David Mallet – all about me

David Mallet is a British director particularly noted for his work on music videos, including David Bowie‘s innovative “Ashes to Ashes“, Rush‘s “Distant Early Warning, and Queen‘s “Radio Ga Ga” and “I Want to Break Free” videos. He has also served as a producer on television programmes including “The Kenny Everett Video Show”. He is also known for directing some concert recordings of acclaimed British soprano Sarah Brightman and other major live music and spectacle events such as 46664 and Cirque du Soleil. He has also directed such prominent concerts as Pulse.

David is arguably the most experienced live music TV director in the world.

David directed many of the early music videos, including Queen, David Bowie, Madonna, AC/DC and INXS. He went on to both produce and direct the Kenny Everett Video Show, discovering the talents of choreographer Arlene Phillips and her raunchy dance troop Hot Gossip. This DVD features interviews with the director himself as well as AC/DC, Bob Geldof (Boomtown Rats), Def Leppard, Roger Taylor (Queen) and Joan Jett

 

With a career going back to the early days of music television David has always remained at the forefront of event film-making. His love and understanding of both music and film has been recognized as U2, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Cher, AC/DC and Pink, to name a few. Many of the artists come back time and time again. He is in great demand for networks across the globe, such as NBC, ABC, HBO, PBS, CBS, iTV, BBC & C4, and he remains the pre-eminent director in his field.

His ability to capture the essence of the performance and event and to translate this film has won him every major international television award, including a BAFTA for the Kenny Everett Video Show, a Grammy for U2 live from Sydney; Primetime Emmys for the Cirque du Soliel and Cher. And a Directors Guild Award for ‘Best Direction’ for Cher.
